Gravy can be intimidating! I know! As there were many times I called it “maybe gravy”! Sometimes it would turn out broth-y and other times crazy thick. However, I have now pretty much mastered gravy and it is super easy and very tasty!
Ingredients:
- 1 stick of butter/margarine (1/2 cup)
- 1/2 cup of flour
- Several cups of broth
Directions:
1 – Melt the stick of butter/margarine in a large pan.
2 – Add flour to the pan.
3 – Carefully whisk the butter and flour together and let it start to brown, but make sure to continuously stir the mixture.
4 – Pour in a few cups of broth, adjust as needed to achieve the thickness level/quantity of gravy you are trying to make.
5 – Let it simmer and thicken, continuing to stir.
6 – Once the gravy has reached the perfect color and consistency, you are finished!
7 – You are ready to serve it over your favorite meat, mashed potatoes, or whatever you choose!
***NOTE***
- You can make more of the butter/flour mixture and add even more broth to create more gravy, just make sure to keep your butter/margarine to flour at a 1:1 ratio!
- Example – 1 cup butter/margarine & 1 cup of flour
